Operational Intelligence / WIP and Critical Parts

Know What Moved. Know Where It Went.

Use RFID to capture the movement of work in progress and critical parts. Turn read-zone events into traceable operational data that teams can use to understand the flow.

The Platforms behind the Work

Visibility Starts with Reliable Capture.

A part movement is easy to miss when its record depends on a separate manual step. RFID can connect the physical movement to a digital record, but the read zone needs to match the operation.

This application combines RFID capture, read-zone design and shielding to track WIP and critical parts. The resulting movement data supports traceability and creates a foundation for further operational analysis.

The Operating Sequence

From a Physical Movement to a Traceable Record.

The capture configuration follows the actual flow through the read point.

Read-zone design and shielding help distinguish the intended movement from nearby tagged items.
  1. Identify the Item

Associate the RFID identity with the relevant part or WIP record.

  2. Capture the Movement

Read the tagged item at the configured doorway, counter or transfer point. The installation and shielding define the intended read zone.

  3. Build the Movement Record

Connect the read event to the item and operating context so the movement can be traced.

  4. Use the Operational History

Make the captured history available for tracking and analysis. Reliable records provide a foundation for evaluating future supply-chain optimization.

Design the Read Zone around the Work.

Different layouts and nearby tagged items affect capture. Qualify the reader configuration and shielding for the actual movement path, including unintended reads and missed movements.

The Platforms behind the Work

Insight brings RFID capture and traceability information into the operational view. The current application establishes tracking and data collection; further optimization builds on that evidence.

Bring the Expertise to the Next Task.

For the next analytical use case, Insight Builder Agents help test hypotheses and identify gaps in the collected data. Engineers define the outcome and validate the resulting model; the physical RFID installation still needs its own site qualification.

Builder Agents provide the current platform capability for adapting models and workflows. Engineers evaluate each new task before deployment.
